ANNPR 2020 invites papers that present original work in the areas of neural networks and machine learning oriented to pattern recognition, focusing on their algorithmic, theoretical, and applied aspects. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

Methodological Issues:

– Supervised, semi-supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning
– Deep learning & deep reinforcement learning
– Feed-forward, recurrent, and convolutional neural networks
– Generative models
– Interpretability & explainability of neural networks
– Robustness & generalization of neural networks
– Meta-learning, Auto-ML

Applications to Pattern Recognition:

– Image classification and segmentation
– Object detection
– Document analysis, e.g. handwriting recognition
– Sensor-fusion and multi-modal processing
– Biometrics, including speech and speaker recognition and segmentation
– Data, text, and web mining
– Bioinformatics and medical applications
– Industrial applications, e.g. quality control and predictive maintenance

ANNPR 2020 is organized by the Technical Committee 3 (IAPR TC3) on Neural Networks & Computational Intelligence of the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR). As such, we particularly encourage submissions that fit the Manifesto and the research directions of the TC3 (see http://iapr-tc3.diism.unisi.it/Research.html).

Accepted papers will be published as a special volume of the Springer Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence (LNAI) series. For previous editions, see https://link.springer.com/conference/annpr

Papers are invited to be submitted via EasyChair. If you have an EasyChair account already, just log-in by using your username and password. If you have not, you need to register first and then proceed with your submission.

Deadline: CLOSED

Authors should consult Springer’s authors’ guidelines and use their proceedings templates, either for LaTeX or for Word, for the preparation of their papers. Springer encourages authors to include their ORCIDs in their papers. The page limit is 12 pages.

In addition, the corresponding author of each accepted paper, acting on behalf of all of the authors of that paper, must complete and sign a Consent-to-Publish form PDF. The corresponding author signing the copyright form should match the corresponding author marked on the paper.

If you are interested in Open Access or Open Choice, please refer to the Springer webpage. We would need the address(es) for the invoice(s) and the CC-BY Consent-to-Publish form(s) PDF at the same time as the camera-ready files for the publication.

Note that at least one of the Authors of accepted papers is required to complete her/his Early Registration timely, in order to guarantee inclusion of the paper in the ANNPR2020 Proceedings. Camera-ready papers whose Author(s) do not complete the registration process within the deadline for Early Registration will not be published in the Proceedings.

In addition, we will invite the 5 (five) selected best accepted papers (as determined by the PC) to submit extended versions to an ANNPR 2020 special issue of the MDPI Journal “Computers” (ISSN 2073-431X).

Submitted papers should be extended to the length of regular research or review articles, with at least 50% coverage of new results. Accepted papers after peer-review will be published in open access format, without page limit and free of author charges.
